that dzhokhar tsarnaev is in no condition to talk to the feds, at least not yet. but we are told, he has two gunshot wound, one from the carjacking bomb throwing that police chase, he and his brother, thursday night. we have team fox coverage for you this morning. mike tobin is in watertown, where police cornered and captured the suspect on friday night. the community trying to recover today. but we start at beth israel hospital in boston. the suspect and several victims being treated there. hi, molly. >> reporter: hi, jamie. that's right. dzhokhar tsarnaev is being treated by the doctors, under heavy guard, understandably. the authorities are standing by, ready to talk to him when he becomes able to talk. eddavis spoke on "fox news sunday." he said the fbi has not been able to start an interrogation because he is not in a condition to be interrogated. take a listen to the commissioner. >> the suspect is in serious but stable condition. the questioning's going to be done by a special team, sent in by the fbi. as far as i know, that has not happened yet. >> reporter: is he able to speak? is h
that possibly dzhokhar tsarnaev is coming back to consciousness and able to communicate with investigators. it all goes back to "usa today" report citing anonymous law enforcement source but if the information hashings out it is certainly significant, the fact he is able to communicate with investigators by writing. he can't speak because as you mentioned there is a gunshot wound either to the neck or jaw or both but he is able to write according to this report and the answers providing to questions are described as substantive. what know from the information the answers he is providing indicates there is not a larger network. there is not a second wave planned or a wave people should be fearful of connected to him. again the information, the sourcing on the information just doesn't give me a whole lot of confidence, jenna. jenna: we'll take that interest consideration, mike as you've been on the ground there for the past several days. we see the flowers behind you and tell us where you are and when will the area around the blast site be reopened to the public? >> reporter: this is copley
in came edge about, massachusetts, a chechen, apparently. dzhokhar tsarnaev. tell us what you know. >> 19 years old from overseas, been in the u.s. for more than a year. both suspects said to be brothers. as we watch that. i want to make one last point here, if i could, come out live here to our location on boylston street. i want the audience to understand just how easy it would have been for these two people to simply walk away from the scene. runners were coming down eastbound here on boylston street. the explosions are dropped at quarter mile down the street. both bombers are walking west on boylston street. it's an easy thing to duck into gloucester or newberry street or com avenue and then cross the river, which is only a quarter mile away and that takes you to the intersection of vasser and main, which is where police were called in last night at 10:30 p.m. after the report of a robbery at a local convenience station. that's really -- that seems to be the best tip yet that we have gotten, to notify authorities that these guys were in the area and they were the people that the f.b
and the homemade grenades and exchange with police how dzhokhar tsarnaev escapes? how does he get out of that standoff? i don't fully understand that yet. >> what they said at the news conference -- they said twice he escaped on foot. he abandoned a car they said in watertown and escaped on foot. it does seem to be, based on the news conference that his ties are to watertown. so this is an area that he is familiar with and very comfortable with and he would have the advantage on foot. >> bret: okay, catherine, thank you. house homeland security chairman republic mike mccaul of texas has access to the latest information. he is here with us this evening. first, mr. chairman, thanks for coming back. your thoughts after hearing this press briefing about this man hunt and what they are dealing with. >> i think they have relative confidence where he may be and that's why they are opening up the city. again, they can't clamp down this city for more than 24 hours. like you, i'm a little bit astounded that he he escaped the scene after the carjacking event. but i remain very hopeful and positi
-year-old dzhokhar tsarnaev, his brother, coming to america as children from the northern caucuses in rushia, living in the u.s. for years, as long as a decade. studying in our schools... only we can presume to become radicalized at a point, we do not know yet, allegedly striking back at the same country they had as a second home. >> we were not that concerned about the chechen community. i have been getting top-secret briefings almost 9 years. vinever heard threats from the chechen community. >> that was a very interesting point that the congressman made. in fact, i just got an email from someone in afghanistan, major general jim mcconville, who is there with our troops. we know historically, the chechens have had activity in afghanistan. but there doesn't seem to be any evidence of any threats on our soil here in the united states, from the chechens. this would be something new. and the question we will have to learn, as they review everything, including all the activities of these two brothers on the day of the marathon and since, is whether or not they had contact with anyone o
tsarnaev is dead. suspect number two, dzhokhar tsnaraev, his younger brother, age 19, still unaccounted for. jennifer griffin is live with our national security view on this from our bureau in washington, d.c. we're told they have ties to chechnya. that they could be russian- born but chechnya according to their ethnicity. they spent some time there at least at a younger age, jennifer. what more do we have on that? >> reporter: that is really interesting. when i heard of the name of the younger one, the one with the white cap who is still on the loose, the name dzhokar was very familiar to me. the dzhokar dudivey first president of chechnya was killed. had a violent death by the russians when he used his satellite phone, two missiles came out of the sky and killed him. i remember being in lebanon at the time and remember when he was killed, he was killed in chechnya on april 21st, which of course is coming up this weekend, this sunday. that made me think if these two are chechen nationalists in some way, dzhokar dudiav, dzhokhar tsnaraev accused of planting the boston marathon bomb, that is
